I have spent the last 8 years following my heart from Virginia to Delaware to California and finally to Oregon. I am very proud of all I have achieved. I was a bartender at one of the most prestigious bars in Delaware for many years before graduating college in TV and film and moving to Los Angeles. In college I worked in reality television for shows like Trading Spaces, A Dating Story and Ambush Makeover. In LA, my first job was with Dick Clark productions working on the American Music Awards, Golden Globes and New Years Rockin' Eve. From then I went on to work the Oscars, America's Got Talent, Talk Show with Spike Feresten and an Independent Film. I moved up the production ladder quickly and landed a job at the premier rehearsal and backline company in LA, CenterStaging. And from there I went on to work for the best commercial production company, Smuggler. Smuggler creates HoneyShed.com as well as commercials for Lexus, Nike, Tylenol and Clearasil. I learned so much in my short three years in LA. I was becoming ansy with production and the entertainment business by early 2008. My boyfriend and I started discussing what we really wanted to do with our lives. It was clear that I wanted to own my own business and he, being a musician, always wanted to own a record store. So we created a hybrid music store and bar and moved to Portland to relentlessly pursue our dream. It's been five months now and the business plan I worked so hard on got us a new business partner, investors and a lender... and this in a weak economy! I believe whole heartedly that there is always a way! All it takes is passion, drive and a lot of faith. I signed up for elance because I like to be busy and have things to work on. My business plan is done, so I don't have that to work on anymore, and we're waiting for the permits to build out our space. Even with that going on, it would only keep me busy some of the time, until we open in 4 - 5 months. I also thrive on juggling multiple projects, when I was working on America's Got Talent I was producing a play at the same time. We produced two weeks in LA and then took it to the Fringe Festival in NYC. I was in New York for the play during Finale Week on AGT back in LA, and I still maintained both jobs. I would be on 5th Ave., on my way to create playbills at Kinko's while on the phone with Joy Philbin about tickets to the finale. My Blackberry definitely came in handy that week!
