That means that the 44kbps is going directly between the Flash Player (running inside the browser) at each end, the video never touching the server. The central server is only used to pick the next peer to connect to, and another central service (Adobe Stratus) is used to actually do the NAT traversal and address lookup needed to establish the connection. Once established, all the audio and video goes direct. The 7 servers with 1 Gbps connections are doing the initial database lookups to find the "next user", some number of servers in Adobe's "Stratus" cloud are helping to set up the P2P link, and then that's it. 0 Gbps of video needs to go through this future servers... without Flash Player 10 and its peer-to-peer video, this would be impossible to do without huge bandwidth bills.
