描述

CMS System reuired with the above skills, and languages.

The Bolton Morning News would like to develop a Content Management System to store and organise content for their newspaper site. They have news stories organised into five categories:
• National News
• Local News
• Features
• Opinion
• Sport
You have a reasonably free hand to choose a logo and colour scheme for your work, but it is recommended that you adopt an existing colour scheme from the kuler.adobe.com web site. Each page must have a header section containing the site title (and perhaps a simple logo if you wish), navigation and a footer with the following address:
Bolton Morning News Ltd, Deane Road, Bolton, BL3 5AB. Tel: 01204 903000
The newspaper needs to make money from this venture, so you will need to incorporate space for advertising in this design. Industry standard banner sizes are available. Place-holder ads will be acceptible for this site, but the ability to vary the ads on screen is desirable.
Your site must be developed using Visual Basic.Net and Microsoft SQL Server 2005. Your working prototype must be deployed on the cet-iis6-01 web server and cet-sql2k5-01 database server.
The Specification
You must deliver the following functionality:
• A home page for site visitors which shows a headline story from each section and other items in less detail.
• A section page for each type of story showing full details of the current main story and links to others
• Individual pages for news stories - always including at least one photo
• A password protected administration section to allow journalists to publish stories
Your system must allow the following information to be recorded about each story:
• Headline
• Byline
• Short Summary
• Full text of story
• A link to an image
• Publication Date
• Some mechanism for setting priority
Home Page
The home page should be able to show:
• links to each section
• summary, picture and link for highest priority story
• summary and link for high priority stories in each section
• links to current headlines from each section
Section Home Page
Similar to main home page, but only showing stories from a given section.
Story Pages
Display the full text of each story along with the picture. It is not expected that you write lots of copy or source lots of images for this assignment. Any text will do, you are welcome to use the Lorem Ipsum generator if you wish. Give each page a unique headline so that it is clear that the content changes from page to page. Similarly images sourced from sites like Flickr are OK; it is suggested that you use the Creative Commons section of Flickr to avoid copyright issues.
Content Management System
The content management system must be password protected. You must add a user called editor with the password Letmein! The main CMS page should allow journalists to:
• Add new stories
• Edit existing stories
• Show/Hide entries (hidden entries should not appear on the public pages)
In addition, editors should be able to assign higher priority to some stories so that they feature prominently on the home page and section homes.
Deliverables
The primary assessment mechanism for this assignment is to demonstrate a working version of your CMS during workshop session you normally attend on the 8th December. You will be able to demonstrate the key features of your site in that session and gain marks according to the marking guide shown below. Missing the presentation class will be considered a late submission. If you miss the assessment, it is your responsibility to arrange an alternative assessment with with the module leader (Adam). This is best accomplished by sending an email.
Marking Criteria
Each element will be given a mark out of ten, the percentages shown for each criterion represent the weighting it receives in calculating the overall score.
Element Assessment Criteria  Weighting
Functionality The student must demonstrate that all the features detailed in the first section of this brief are implemented and working.  30%
Presentation Visual appearance of pages. To score well, the pages must be attractive and consistent.  20%
Database The structure and organisation of the database tables used to drive the web site should logical and appropriate. The student can show the database tables using Visual Studio.  15%
Server-side Code  The student must be able to explain the functioning of the server-side code verbally and by showing important sections of their source code.  20%
Stylesheets The student will demonstrate how CSS definitions control the placement and presentation of onscreen information.  15%

Regulations
University rules say that you must achieve a qualifying score (35%) in each element as well as an overall average passing score of 40% for the module. The two elements in this module are the coursework and the exam. Failing to complete any assessed element means that you cannot pass the module.
