OpenVAS is a GPL fork of Nessus, the vulnerability scanner.



I need competent coders with an interest in security to work with me on developing OpenVAS plugins to carry out configuration reviews of various Unix platforms (AIX, Solaris 10, HP-UX and Redhat Enterprise Linux 5) to the standards specified by the Center for Internet Security.



OpenVAS uses a custom language known as NASL with similarities to both C and Perl for the definition of plugins.
